I’m Erika, a tattoo artist and one of the founders of Halla Tattoo. I’ve been working as a professional tattoo artist since 2011, and I’m based in Rovaniemi, in the heart of Lapland. I grew up in Sodankylä, and Lapland has always been my home. Growing up here has shaped me and the way I see the world.

I mainly create custom tattoos – each design is planned individually, based on the client’s wishes and story. It is important to me that every tattoo feels meaningful both to me and to the person who wears it. What I enjoy most is building every piece in its own unique way. Sometimes inspiration comes without a commission, and then I create ready-made designs that are available as they are. It’s always special when someone finds a piece that resonates with them and our sense of aesthetics aligns.

I could say that tattooing is my dream job. What I find most rewarding is succeeding, improving, and meeting different kinds of people. At its best, a tattoo session is like a good conversation – we’re on the same page and there’s a feeling of connection.

I’m a quiet, introverted person by nature, but I get easily excited when talking about things I care about. I work carefully and wholeheartedly – sometimes through a bit of controlled chaos, but always with the final result in focus.

Outside the studio, my life revolves around loved ones, my cats, hobbies, and music. I love the freedom to move and create, as well as the peace of being on my own. I play piano, listen to music, paint, write, and play video games. I am especially fascinated by folklore, nature, and the mysteries of life and death. Femininity, equality, mental health, and honesty are also important values and recurring themes for me, and I hope they shine through in my work as well.
